It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year! đ
Christmas is such a happy and joyful time. Some spend Christmas with family, whilst other spend it with friends and even alone. Some travel to other countries, some stay at home and some like to stay in a cute little cabin by the fire! đ.. that's me! Well i wish it was!
A lovely cabin, made of wood, whilst i sit in front of a fire as it snows outside. Ugh, it just sounds PERFECT! This gingerbread house is inspired by my dream Christmas vacation. The peace, the quiet, the nature, the views, the forest and the calm is what this Gingerbread Log Cabin represents. It's magical! âď¸đ
For this Gingerbread Log Cabin, i made a gingerbread house by purchasing the cutters on Amazon, and creating a spiced gingerbread cookie recipe. I allowed the gingerbread to cool, then stored it in an airtight container and began the second step the next day.
I really wanted the cabin to look realistic and to give off that rustic and snowy vibe! So i used cinnamon quills for the wood. I made a simple sugar and water 'glue' for the sticking together.
I stuck the cinnamon quills, door-gram cracker, pretzels and a matte silver sprinkles ball, decorations-rosemary, and dear head-sugar coated almond and pretzels first before building the cabin. I used bite size shredded wheat to decorate the roof and then a simple royal icing to fill the gap, to give that snowy look.
I decorated the back of the house with a mixture of sugar coated cashews & almonds and chocolate covered almonds - this was for the fire place, to really give it that rock and textured vibe. I continued to add them around the chimney also. I used angels hair for the smoke.
Once everything was built and had dried, i made a tree truck snack out of mini cinnamon sticks and pretzels. I covered that in my simple royal icing mixture. I decorated the cabin with a buttercream icing mixed with shortening so that it would dry solid and not move.
I added some fairy lights inside of the house, so that it would mimic the illusion of there being some sort of electricity/lights in the Gingerbread Log Cabin. I think sprinkled artificial snow around the cabin.
I used an old toy camper van that i owned when i was a child as a holiday van parked outside the cabin. I wrapped a small artificial tree around the car to suggest that whom so ever was staying in the cabin (me in mt dreams ha!), had chopped a tree down for their Christmas tree.
I used chocolate pebbles as the pathway and used royal icing to cement that down. I added some artificial trees to create the illusion that the Gingerbread Log Cabin was in the forest. I made a fence out of pretzel sticks to really just finish off the look.
Overall, i really enjoyed making the Gingerbread Log Cabin. It took me a few days đ , but it was a few days well spent! I was really able to push myself and get creative!!
I hope this post inspires you all these holidays, and i hope it gives you all some great ideas for your own gingerbread houses!!
Notes
This cabin will defiantly be left out all throughout the holidays. A typical gingerbread house (if built well), can last up to 1 year in display.
