Middle Eastern food is my favourite! You can't beat a good shawarma wrap with a nice cold beer (non-alcoholic for me LOL). This Chicken Shawarma recipe is going to knock your socks off! Just a handful of every day spices makes an incredible Chicken Shawarma marinade that infuses the chicken with exotic Middle Eastern flavours. The smell when this is cooking is insane!

Recipe
~ Makes 4 Wraps ~
Ingredients:
Grilled Chicken Marinade
2-3 Chicken fillets
2 tbsp Yogurt
1/2 tsp (or to taste) Salt
1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
1/2 tsp Garam masala
1 tsp Dry coriander powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
1/2 tsp Ginger powder
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Tandoori masala
1 tbsp Lemon juice
Salad
1 cup Onion Slices
1 cup Cabbage julienne
1 cup Tomato julienne
1 cup Cucumber julienne
1 cup Carrot
Tahini Sauce
2-3 tbsp Mayonnaise
1 tsp Lemon juice
1 tbsp light tahini
1 tbsp Vinegar
2-3 Garlic cloves
1 tsp Olive Oil
1/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp Black pepper powder
* (optional) 1 tsp Oregano
Wrap
4 flatbreads
Method:
1. Begin by washing and removing/slicing off any fat from the chicken breasts. Slice each breast in half horizontally and then into 2cm wide strips.
2. Marinate the chicken pieces for 1 hour minimum. For best taste marinate overnight.
3. Then move onto making the tahini sauce. Add all the tahini sauce ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. If too thick add a little water and blend until its at a consistency that you like Store in fridge and move onto making salad.
4. Using a peeler/or a knife to remove the skin of the cucumber. Slice the cucumber julienne as well as the tomatoes and carrots. Shred the cabbage and slice the onions thinly. Mixed together in a large bowl and place in the fridge whilst you prepare the chicken.
5. On a grilling pan add a drizzle of oil and cook the chicken pieces for around 5 mins or until they are nice and brown. Add them in some foil so they stay warm whilst the other chicken pieces are cooking.
6. In a pan, add some butter and warm up the flatbread until they are lovely and golden brown.
7. Once warmed, spread come tahini sauce to the flatbread along with any other sauce you like (i like to add some chilli sauce), add the salad and then the chicken strips.
8. You can eat it like that or you can wrap it in some white baking paper.
9. Done!
